Conferment of Status of Founding Father of the Namibian Nation Act, 2005

Act 16 of 2005

ACTTo provide for the conferment on the first President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma, of the status of Founding Father of the Namibian Nation; and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
PREAMBLEWHEREAS we the people of Namibia recognise the historical contribution made by the first President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma, to the attainment of the Independence of Namibia;AND WHEREAS we the people of Namibia further recognise the contribution made by the first President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma, to the achievement of national reconciliation; the fostering of peace and national unity; and the promotion of the well-being of the people of Namibia,NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of Namibia, as follows:-

1. Conferment of status of Founding Father of the Namibian Nation

The status of Founding Father of the Namibian Nation is hereby conferred on the first President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma.

2. Short title

This Act is called the Conferment of Status of Founding Father of the Namibian Nation Act, 2005.
